About the Data Commons

Mission Statement
The K-State Data Commons was established to provide statistical research support services to the faculty and students of Kansas State University. Our mission is to provide access to numeric data and an environment equipped with technology and knowledgeable staff to facilitate faculty and student research.

The K-State Data Commons offers both virtual and in-person services.

Place
  • Quiet environment for researchers to work
  • High-end workstation with dual widescreen, high-resolution monitors
  • Configuration for personal laptop use (wired or wireless)
  • Suite of peripheral equipment (scanner, printer, CD/DVD burner)
  • SAS, SPSS, and GIS, R, and Geoda software
  • Easy access to consultants from the K-State GIS Commons
Data Access
  • Staff assist patrons to identify, obtain and use datasets
Statistical Assistance
  • On-demand help with use of data files and statistical analysis software
  • Referral to other sources of statistical expertise
  • Training in statistical methods and software (not currently available)
Library
  • Easy access to U.S. Government statistical resources
  • Collection of  ICPSR publications
  • Easy access to Hale Library’s collections and subject specialists

Data Commons space, staff, and resources are provided by the K-State Libraries.
